Engine Maintenance Course Power Squadron 2012

The Johnson City Sail & Power Squadron has offered an invitation to our WLSC members to attend theirupcoming Engine Maintenance course. The course will start next Wednesday, 9 / 19 at the Northeast State CC (Near the airport).

If you have an engine (motor) on your boat, this course could be quite beneficial to you.

The Johnson City Sail & Power Squadron’s Education Department’s Fall offering for 2012 will be

Engine Maintenance. This is a great course and useful to power boaters and sailors alike. The class will start on Wednesday, September 19th and last for eleven weeks.

This course is also open to non-members of the JCSPS and they have given our WLSC members an invitation to join the class. The cost for Non-JCSPS members is $45. This includes the Student Manual.

Chapters will be as follows:

Chapter 1. What makes a boat go

Chapter 2. Inboard spark ignition engines, Part 1

Chapter 3. Inboard spark ignition engines, Part 2

Chapter 4. Inboard diesel engines, Part1

Chapter 5. Inboard diesel engines, Part 2

Chapter 6. Inboard engine drive systems

Chapter 7. Outboard engines and drives, and stern drives

Chapter 8. Marine engine controls, instruments and alarms

Chapter 9. Marine steering systems

Chapter 10. Emergency repairs afloat

Classes will be given at Northeast State Community College in classroom L-1006.

Classes will start Wednesday, 9/19 at 6 PM and end at 8 pm.

Final Exam will be given on week 11, November 28 .
