4th of July Special Events

Greetings Sailors!
Next week we will be celebrating our nation’s independence with several special events.  This is a great time to bring your family and friends out to enjoy time on the lake:
Thursday, July 4th:
1:00 P.M.    Sailboat Parade.  Come on out on Thursday morning and decorate your boat with all the patriotic paraphernalia you can find!  The “official” parade for the house and power boats starts at 2:00 p.m. at the dam.  Since our vessels are a lot slower, we will start an hour early, sailing when we can and motoring the rest of the route.  I will award a prize to the owner of the boat with the best decorations!
6:00 P.M.    Potluck Dinner.    The Club grill will be available to all for preparing whatever you bring.  A sidedish or dessert to share will make it a group event.  The Club will NOT be providing food for this.
After Dark:   Lakeshore Fireworks.  This is usually an awesome display!  Come see your slip rental fees at work!!  🙂  These will go off just outside the entrance to the cove.  Grab a ride with someone or take your own boat out.  Make sure all the appropriate bow, stern and mast lights are working on your boat and that you have a life jacket for each person on board.  The TWRA loves to “work” this event and issue tickets…don’t get caught by the flashing blue light!!!
Friday, July 5th
No formal events planned as of today
Saturday, July 6th
8:15 A.M.  Skipper’s Meeting, Lady Captains Fun Race.  All of our females are encouraged to gather an able crew of submissive sailors to crank the winches while you steer your vessel and execute your strategy.
Breakfast following the race
And finally, what we’ve all been waiting for…our annual Pig Roast, hosted by Bill and Adair Murdoch….this year moved from the point onto our dock!
Cooking/preparing/hanging out will go on all day
6:00 P.M.  Barbecue Dinner (more details to follow in separate e-mail!)
After dark:    Cove Ridge and Mallard Cove Fireworks.  The Cove Ridge fireworks can be seen if you motor down east towards the bridge to the entrance to their cove which is on the north side of the lake.  Mallard Cove will also be having a band, door prizes, etc. at their celebration.
Sunday, July 7th
10:00 A.M.    Pancake breakfast on the dock.  After which we will help Bill and Adair pack up all the stuff they brought for the Pig Roast!
Please watch for further e-mails with more details about next week’s events.  Hope to see everyone on the dock at some point!
