Race Results from 30 Plus Regatta on Sept 7

Ahoy Sailors!
The second 30 Plus Regattawas held Saturday afternoon on Sept 7.  Turnout for the race was very good, with 7 boats participating.  Results were as follows:
Place Captain                  Boat                Crew
1st  Tony Catoe              Pearson 30  Wayne and Danielle, Scott and friends
2nd  John Middaugh      Catalina 30  Billie, Dave

4th  Bill Smith                  Catalina 30  James and Teryll
5th  Sue Lockett              Catalina 32  Russ and Gayle, Geoff and Heather

In 5-10 kt winds varying from SW to NW, new member Tony Catoe and his crew reached the OBS mark first on the Pearson 30, and never had to look back the rest of the race.  So congratulations to Tony and his crew for an impressive run, finishing first in ~62 minutes!  John Middaugh captured second place with a fine run on his Cat 30 with a new “extra crispy” head sail; congrats to John and Billie.  Bobby Linebarger and crew took third place on his Cat 34, a good finish for the largest boat in moderate winds.  Bill Smith and crew finished in fourth place with another good run on the Cat 30 Burger.  Sue Lockett had plenty of crew on the Cat 32 to help edge out Paul Poulakis’sTartan 30 by a few seconds.  It was nice to see Todd Hunt join the racing fleet for the first time on his Hunter 31; he must has been pretty busy soloing his 31 ft boat.  Thanks to all participants in this FUN Race; it was a nice treat after the morning Fall Series race was cancelled due to lack of wind.
The next 30 Plus Regatta is scheduled for Saturday Sept 21 at 2:00 pm, depending on favorable wind conditions.

First Fall Series Race (Cancelled):
We had a great turnout of 13 racers for the first Fall Series race on the morning of Sept 7.  Unfortunately, the winds began to weaken ~10 minutes into the race and only one boat (the Capri 25 piloted by new members Geoff and Heather Patterson) made it to the windward mark within 60 minutes.  10 minutes later the wind completely died and the race was cancelled.  Thanks much to Wayne and Danielle Catoe for serving as Committee Boat and to Doug Rymer for helping to set out the marks.
The make-up race for the first Fall Series race will be Sunday Sept 22 at 2:00 pm.  Note that a Fall Series race will also be held on Saturday Sept 21 at 10:00 am, as originally planned.
