Commodore’s Cup Race and Cook-off, October 26

Hello Folks!

As our 2013 sailing season winds down, it’s time to talk about our final dockside event for the year, the Commodore’s Cup Race and Cook-off, to be held Saturday, October 26 (make-up date Sunday, October 27).

As Commodore, I get to decide the format of the race(s) and I’m looking for your input! Here’s a chance to try out a new course or different race format from those we use during our regular race season. Last year we changed the starting order around so that the Performance Cruisers started first ahead of the A-Class boats. This proved to be so popular that it was incorporated into this year’s racing protocol. If you have an idea that you think would be challenging as well as fun, please let me know.

The Commodore’s Cup trophy itself is HUGE, so I’d like to see a lot of participation from ALL of our sailors! ANYONE can participate in this race! You don’t have to be a part of the regular race series to join in and win! You too can have your name added to those already on the trophy! Plus you get to keep it on your mantle to show off to all of your friends for the next year!

What better way to end our dock year than with a big cooking contest? I’m hereby announcing the Commodore Cup Cook-off to be held following the races on Saturday the 26th (Sunday the 27th make-up date). A prize will be awarded in each of the following categories: Main Dish (casserole, chili, or chowder), Side dish (appetizer or main dish side), and Dessert. Dishes will be judged on flavor, appearance and suitability for serving at a dockside event (ease of assembly, need to be kept cold/hot, etc.). Participants are asked to bring along the recipe for their dish. Do I see a WLSC Cookbook in our future????

Exact times and details will follow in a later e-mail!
